NAV CANADA Collective Bargaining Schedule

Apr 27, 2009

In a few short weeks the union will serve notice to bargain on NAV CANADA thus beginning the formal collective bargaining process.

Although both parties would have liked to complete collective bargaining prior to the expiry date of August 31, 2009, a number of factors make that difficult if not impossible to achieve. However, both parties have set dates for our bargaining sessions which should allow us to reach an agreement prior to the end of the calendar year. The timeline of activities is as follows:

On or after May 1, 2009 Union serves notice to bargain on NAV CANADA
June 8-12

IBEW National steering committee meeting

August 24-28

Joint NAV CANADA IBEW collective bargaining training

September 28 to October 2

Collective bargaining session 1

October 19-23

Collective bargaining session 2

November 16-27

Collective bargaining session 3

Additional dates may be required but both parties are committed to reaching an agreement as quickly as possible.

It’s important to remember that our ability to conclude an agreement quickly is not entirely within the Local’s control. NAV CANADA has an equal role to play in ensuring these negotiations are fruitful and efficient.

In Solidarity,
