Workforce Adjustment Alternation Reminder
The employers’ alternation system for affected employees under the Workforce Adjustment Directive is not meeting the advertised expectations and in many cases, not working at all. Some departmental regional branches have even gone so far as to advise members they are not participating in alternation process.
The purpose of the alternation program is to allow affected employees to swap positions with employees who are not affected. The program provides employment for those who wish to stay while providing benefits for those who wish to leave the public service. The Local believes the best way to serve the members is to record members who wish to alternate, leave the public service and those who need to find a position before they have been “surplused”.
Any member who wishes to be put on this list should send an email to email@example.com with “ WFA Alternation “ in the subject line. Please provide all the following information: name, contact information, level, status (surplus or wishing to leave), department and work location.
