NAV CANADA Negotiations Update #4
In our last posting dated October 16, 2009 we advised you that face-to-face meetings with the employer were being postponed pending the completion of the classification project. Although the plan design has been approved and jobs have been classified, a key part of the project remains unresolved: salaries and implementation details.
As long as these two parts of the project remain outstanding, we can not meet with the employer for purposes of collective bargaining. This approach may seem drastic but a proper implementation of the classification plan is crucial for this bargaining unit. It is our best hope for fair compensation in these challenging times.
We continue to be in regular contact with NAV CANADA representatives. Furthermore, your negotiation team is scheduled to meet the week of November 16 and review the employer’s formal proposal to settle the classification salaries and implementation details.
