Collective Bargaining Update #6

The IBEW will be returning to the negotiating table from April 26-28.  This meeting follows the disclosure of the employer’s revised sick leave / short-term disability offer to the PSAC.  We expect the employer to formally table the same proposal during our upcoming meetings.

In preparation for our upcoming bargaining session, the negotiating team will return to Ottawa earlier in the month and study the expected offer carefully.  On the surface, the employer’s revised position is a move in the right direction but major hurdles remain before we can reach an agreement.  The employer continues to insist that the new sick leave / short-term disability insurance plan reside outside the collective agreement.  To this, we are adamantly opposed.
