Local 2228 believes stewards are the front line workers in the union. They are the soldiers in the trenches needing the good training and information to do an effective job. They also have a difficult task. Not only do they have to assist members in their fight for justice, they also have full-time job and responsibilities to their employer.
Stewardship is not a popularity contest. It often involves making difficult and unpopular decisions. In other words, it requires leadership.
