Meeting with Management

Have you been asked to attend a meeting with management? The purpose of the meeting will help you determine if a shop steward should be present.

Stewards will not normally be required when attending these types of meetings:

  • Assignment progress reports;
  • Routine performance review meetings;
  • Workplace operational issues such as shift scheduling and task assignment;

However, if this meeting is disciplinary in nature or could lead to discipline, then you have a right to have a steward present. Although you don’t have the right to refuse to answer questions, your steward can make sure the questions are on topic and relevant to the situation at hand.
