IBEW 2228 Remembers
Across Canada, the skilled hands and dedicated minds of IBEW 2228 members power the missions of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). From the naval dockyards in Esquimalt and Halifax to the DND Directorates in the National Capital Region, and to the North, our members are proud to serve those who serve Canada. IBEW 2228 also represents the highly skilled technicians and tradespeople employed by Nasittuq Corporation to operate and maintain the North Warning System (NWS), whose work is fundamental to asserting Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic. For many of our brothers and sisters, this connection to the military community is not just professional; it is deeply personal.”
IBEW 2228 is home to a significant number of veterans, with a high concentration of our veteran membership found at the Naval Bases in Esquimalt and Halifax, and within the National Capital Region. These members have transitioned from serving in uniform to serving with the tools of our trade, bringing their unparalleled discipline, expertise, and commitment to excellence to our union. They have walked in the boots of the CAF members we support, understanding the critical nature of their work firsthand.
On November 11th, we pause as a union to pay our respects. We observe the silence, we wear our poppies with pride, and we honour the profound sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today. This act of remembrance is our sacred duty.
But remembrance is more than a single day of reflection. It is about keeping alive the stories—the stories of sacrifice, of camaraderie, and of the immense hard work that enables the Canadian Armed Forces to successfully complete their missions. It is about remembering the veterans who returned, carrying those stories with them, and who now continue to contribute to our nation as valued members of IBEW 2228.
This year, we were proud to have one of our own, LCdr (retired) Marc Pallard, lay a wreath on behalf of our entire membership at the Dartmouth Cenotaph. This act symbolizes our union’s unwavering gratitude and our pledge to never forget.

To all who have served, to all who continue to serve, and to the families who stand beside them—IBEW 2228 remembers.
Lest We Forget.
