President’s Award Winner 2024

It is with great pleasure that I announce Mark Zelding as the winner of the 2024 President’s award for IBEW Local 2228.
Mark has been a member for more than 34 years. In that time he has served on multiple Bargaining teams, served on a number of committees and been a Steward for much of his career, advoating for all members. Additionally, Mark has also setup several online platforms thoughout his service to the local, bringing members together into a unified community.
To quote our Policy Manual : The President’s Award recipient is a volunteer who has worked tirelessly on behalf of our members, encouraging them to come together to support each other and to hear new ideas.
It is for this reason above all else that Mark is the ideal recipient for the award this year. It is also for this reason that Mark is also the only member to have ever received this honour more than once, having also received this award back in 2002. And, while I just said that it was Mark that receives the honour, I feel that to have a colleague like Mark who has earned this award more than once over his long career, we are the ones who are honoured because this work was done for us.
